About This League

Spring Kickball 2026

It's big, it's back, and it's for everyone — kickball is back on the menu! Join us on Sunday afternoons in April through May for one-hour games across several different levels of play at Big Cottonwood Regional Park.

Sign up with a team of up to 18 players, as a small group, or as a free agent and we'll assign you a team. This season caps at 432 players (24 teams of 18), so grab your spot before it fills. There may be a bye week or two depending on spring weather or holidays. Questions? Email slc.operations@stonewallsports.org.

  • All skill levels — four leagues to match your level
  • Teams of up to 18 players; small groups and free agents placed by the league
  • Location: Big Cottonwood Regional Park (NOT Sugarhouse Park)

Leagues

Levels of Play

Please pay attention to the league descriptions — they have changed. All leagues have levels of competition and encourage socializing. Players and teams may be adjusted or asked to change leagues depending on total sign-ups and experience level.

💎 Sapphire League — Casual

Never played kickball or returning after a long break? Low to medium knowledge of the rules? Sapphire is your league — low-stakes, slow-paced, and focused on getting moving and having fun. The priority is getting your body moving and getting a little better each time from where you began.

  • Some familiarity with the game; likely needs rule reminders game to game
  • Low to medium throwing speed and distance for pitching and fielding
  • Still getting comfortable catching and kicking the ball reliably
  • Still learning strategy, placement, and coordinating with teammates

💚 Emerald League — Intermediate

Played kickball with Stonewall before or in another league a few times? Confident in your athletic ability but still refining your skills? Emerald is for players who know the game and can hold their own on the field — a more involved experience at a medium play level.

  • Know the rules well, even if you occasionally forget to tag back or foul out
  • Getting better at catching fly balls, but not expecting to get every one
  • Kicking distance is stronger, but still not as reliably placed
  • Can usually move between bases quickly; can throw a good chunk down the field

🟡 Topaz League — Advanced

Kickball regular who can kick, catch, field, and call plays reliably? Won games in social or intermediate leagues but not quite ready for the highest level? Topaz is for players who want to push themselves while still refining their game.

  • Players are in sync and calling out to coordinate plays
  • Can reliably modulate kick strength and direction; makes it 1–2 bases most times
  • Can catch 50–75% of balls in your area and quickly relay to fielders
  • Infrequently or never forgets to tag back, pass the orange base, or look for multiple outs

❤️ Ruby League — Competitive

Confident in the rules, master of basic and advanced kickball skills, and consistently winning against most other teams? Ruby League is high-paced, strategy-driven, and built for players at the top of their game.

  • Can throw to most players anywhere on the field with speed and precision
  • Able to pull off double or triple plays
  • Routinely kicks for multiple bases or home runs
  • Reliably catches most balls landing in your area
  • Quickly calls and strategizes plays with teammates

Common Questions

FAQ

What do I wear?
We ask that you wear your Stonewall Season t-shirt, cleats recommended (metal cleats are not allowed), and comfortable clothes to move, play, and run in.
Do I need experience to join?
Nope. If you can run and kick a ball, you're qualified. Kickball is one of the most beginner-friendly sports we offer.
When does kickball run?
We run kickball seasons in Spring and Fall. Spring 2026 runs Sundays from April 19 through June 7. Check back in late summer for Fall registration.
Can I register as a group or with friends?
Yes! You can sign up as a Small Group Member and enter the name of the person(s) you want to play with. You'll be placed on a team with another small group, a partial team, or free agents.
Where do you play?
Big Cottonwood Regional Park — Larry H. Miller Softball Complex at 4350 S 1300 E, Millcreek, UT 84124. Note: we are NOT at Sugarhouse Park this season.
Is there a post-game social?
Yes! Team post-game hangouts are part of the deal and honestly one of the best parts of the season. Check in with your Team Captain to see what your team is doing.
What's included with registration?
Your fee covers field rental, referees, and your season t-shirt (one per year — if you've already received yours at another 2026 program, bring it to games). Just show up ready to play.
What was the registration pricing?
Early Bird (until March 8): $20 · Regular (March 9–17): $25 · Late (after March 17): $35. Registration is now closed for Spring 2026.

Merchandise

Season Shirts

To keep programs affordable, reduce waste, and based on your 2025 feedback, we're moving to a one Stonewall shirt per year system. If this is your first 2026 event, you'll get your shirt at this program and will be asked to bring it to any other leagues you play in this year.

Financial Access

Player Fund

We're happy to formally launch our Player Fund. If you or someone you know would like to participate but can't because of cost, we're building a fund to partially or fully offset registration for a portion of players per program. The amount and quantity of awards varies based on demand and available funds. We're currently limiting one award per person per year unless extra unused funds are available.

Questions about the fund? Email slc.operations@stonewallsports.org.
