  • Three leagues to match your level: Orange · Green · Purple
  • Teams of 4 players; small groups and free agents placed by the league
  • Bring your own paddle — pickleballs provided
  • Incomplete teams may have players added based on registration quantities

Leagues

Levels of Play

Please pay attention to the league descriptions — they have changed from previous seasons. All leagues have levels of competition and encourage socializing. Players and teams may be modified or asked to change leagues depending on sign-ups and experience level.

🟠 Orange League — Casual / Beginner

Never played pickleball or it's been a while? Focused on fun over scores, or have a low to medium grasp of the rules? Orange league is your spot — low-stakes, slower-paced, and built for players who want to get moving and improve at their own pace. Abilities will vary and hopefully grow, but improvement is never required.

  • Some familiarity with the game; likely needs rule reminders game to game
  • Hitting speed is low to medium with varying placement accuracy
  • Still learning strategy, court positioning, and coordinating with teammates
  • Approximate DUPR Rating: 3.0 or lower

💚 Green League — Intermediate

Played pickleball with Stonewall or another league a few times? Confident in your athletic ability but still refining your skills? Green league is for players who know the game well and can hold their own on the court — more involved and faster-paced, without being fully advanced play.

  • Plays more regularly and recently; knows the cadence and flow of the game well
  • Serves and shots are more specifically placed, at moderate to high speed
  • Familiar with court positioning, placement strategies, and team communication
  • Approximate DUPR Rating: 3.0–3.5 (up to ~3.75)

💜 Purple League — Competitive / Advanced

Confident in the rules, master of basic and advanced pickleball skills, and routinely winning over most other teams? Purple league is high-paced, strategy-first, and built for players with a track record of consistent, strong play and a priority to win. From those who've cleared the ranks of other Stonewall leagues to those eager to jump in and play hard — Purple league awaits.

  • Games and shots move incredibly quickly, with multiple tactics and little to no unforced errors
  • Plays pickleball regularly, both with Stonewall and independently
  • Approximate DUPR Rating: 3.75 and above

Common Questions

FAQ

Do I need experience to join?
Nope. Our Orange league is built for beginners and players returning to the sport. If you know what a pickleball is, you're ready.
Do I need to bring equipment?
Bring your own paddle. Pickleballs are provided. Athletic shoes with non-marking soles are strongly recommended for indoor courts.
How do I know what league level to choose?
Read the level descriptions above carefully — they've changed from previous seasons. If you have a DUPR rating, use it as a guide. If you're unsure, start in Orange. Players and teams may be adjusted between leagues based on sign-ups and experience.
What is DUPR and do I need a rating?
DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is a free rating system players can use to gauge their skill level. You don't need one to sign up — it's just a helpful reference for choosing your league.
How many players are on a team?
Teams are 4 players. This is a team pickleball format — if your team isn't full at registration close, players may be added based on total registration quantities.
Can I register as a group or team?
Yes! One person registers as Team Captain and the rest register as Team Players under your team name. Small groups can also register together and get placed on a team with others. Incomplete teams will be filled or merged.
What's included with registration?
Court rental, referees, pickleballs, and your season t-shirt (one per year — bring it to all 2026 programs). Bring your own paddle.
Why might there be a bye week?
The Sports Mall uses an indoor bubble over the courts in winter. There may be a week or two off in spring while they remove the bubble for the season.

Season Shirts

To keep programs affordable, reduce waste, and based on your 2025 feedback, we're moving to a one Stonewall shirt per year system. If this is your first 2026 event, you'll get your shirt at this program and will be asked to bring it to any other leagues you play in this year.

Financial Access

Player Fund

We're happy to formally launch our Player Fund. If you or someone you know would like to participate but can't because of cost, we're building a fund to partially or fully offset registration for a portion of players per program. The amount and quantity of awards varies based on demand and available funds. We're currently limiting one award per person per year unless extra unused funds are available.

Questions about the fund? Email slc.operations@stonewallsports.org.
