🏐 Social — Beginner / Recreational

Never played sand volleyball, focused on fun over scores, or have a low to medium understanding of the rules? The Social league is your spot — casual, low-stakes, and built for people who want to get moving and enjoy the outdoors. Abilities will vary and hopefully grow, but improvement is optional. The priority is to get your body moving, socialize, and have fun.

• General knowledge of the game; some reminder on rules expected
• Basic skills for hitting the ball over the net and passing to teammates, with varying success
• Comfortable with casual, relaxed pacing — no pressure to master technique

🏐 Intermediate — Regular / Intermediate Plus

Familiar with the rules, confident in your skills, and have had success over teams in social leagues? Intermediate is for players who want a more challenging, involved game without the intensity of full competitive play. Most players here have a solid grasp of ball control, aim, and movement — and are working toward consistency and wins.

• Good grasp of basic and technical rules; reliable skills with ball control and aim
• Thinking about different strategies and court placement
• Working toward but not yet at mastery of bumping, setting, spiking, blocking, and serving
• Aiming for consistency and looking to push yourself without going fully competitive

🏐 Competitive — Upper Intermediate / Advanced

Confident in the rules, master of basic and advanced volleyball skills, and consistently winning over intermediate teams? Competitive is for players who want high-paced games, big movement, and a serious challenge. Players in this league are prepared with standard strategies, high athleticism, and a drive to win.

• Confident with all rules and mastery of basic and advanced skills
• Played in high school, college, or equivalent competitive leagues
• Demonstrated wins over most intermediate-level teams
• Prepared with standard volleyball strategies, high athleticism, and a fire to compete

👑 Captains

If you plan on being the captain of a team, you will need to register first and then have players register under your team name. An email will be sent with additional team information and responsibilities as captain. Captains and Co-Captains are also required to attend a Captains meeting.

🤝 Team Captain — Building a full team

• Register as Team Captain first, then have your friends register as Team Players under your team name
• Incomplete teams will be merged with other incomplete teams or have free agents added — we can't have low-stacked teams as it takes spots from other interested players

🤝 Team Player — Joining a known team

• Register as a Team Player and select your captain's team during checkout
• Captains may ask that a player be removed from their team prior to the close of registration — we encourage everyone to communicate openly
• Captains can email slc.sports@stonewallsports.org to move players onto or off their team (only after communicating with the player directly)
• If your team isn't full at the registration deadline, players may be added to give more people the chance to play
